“BE AWARE OF SMALL EXPENSES; A SMALL LEAK WILL SINK A GREAT SHIP”
I love using money as an analogy for health and fitness goals, and it makes it easier to understand when you think of it on these terms. You’ll never get out of debt if you keep spending MORE THEN YOU MAKE; you will only sink yourself.
Having a huge amount of debt is not fun and sends some people over the edge using all different coping mechanisms to deal with the stress, and for some, they keep on spending. You have to be willing to sacrifice things in your life to get out of it.
Your fitness/health goals are very similar to debt. When you have a goal to reach( weight to lose), you will have to make certain sacrifices to reach that goal; usually, eating and exercise are the major ones.
But those take discipline and have to choose between instant gratification and long-term satisfaction.
If you continue to keep doing what you’ve always done and make no changes, chances are you’ll see no results, and your health will decline. Same as if you have a debt to pay off, and if you keep spending, you’ll never pay it off and most likely dig yourself deeper into a hole.
You can’t expect your body to change if you make no sacrifices for food choices. Those small decisions every day add up and what you think won’t hurt you is the thing that is sinking you. It’s those small daily healthy choices and sacrifices that get you to your goal, NOT one day of healthy eating.
